I personally find the act of making a wood mosaic very therapeutic. It was this that gave me the idea of using it as a unique and alternative form of art therapy.

I now take my artform to hospitals, care homes and charities in the UK to be used both as general creative therapy but also as hand or proprioceptive therapy for patients with physical disabilities – since creating a wood mosaic requires a degree of dexterity.

In these sessions, I invite the mosaicers to make mini mosaics for themselves to keep (which can be turned in to a decorative wall hanging, set of coasters, trivet…) or, with prior planning, a large and impressive combined mosaic created for a shared or public space.
